It Takes This Many Calories To Lose A Pound Of Fat

By: Joe Stewart

If you are dieting then the first thing you'll need to know is how many calories are needed to lose weight. Here are the numbers. It takes 3500 calories to create one pound of fat and you must burn 3500 calories in order to burn one pound of fat.

Don't let this number scare you if you are significantly overweight. The first thing that you need to understand is that weight loss or weight gain does not happen overnight, but over several weeks and months. Going on a diet is just a temporary fix and won't do you any good unless you make major changes to your lifestyle after you've reached your targeted weight.

There are two different ways that you can reduce fat in your body. The first way is to eat less food or choose foods that are lower in calories. You'll need to constantly be aware of how many calories you're putting in your body. This may sound like a daunting task, but it's all part of changing your lifestyle. You educate yourself on which foods are good and which are not so good and you make the decision to eat more of the foods that are good for you and less of the bad.

The second way of reducing fat in your body is to start and stick with a regular exercise program. This should include both cardio and strengthening exercises. Again, this may seem like a daunting task, but you need to do this for several weeks without missing a beat so you will develop a habit.

Most experts say that you need to exercise at least three times per week for 30-45 minutes, but many people don't feel right unless they do something six days per week. Simply rotate light day, heavy day and work different muscle groups each day. This allows for plenty of recovery time and keeps you from hurting yourself.

The ticket to weight loss success is by combining both reducing your calorie intake and adding an exercise program to your life. It's now a proven fact that those who do this will lose weight NINE TIMES faster than by only doing one or the other.

The bottom line here is that if you are overweight enough to be considered obese, your health is at risk. There comes a point in time where you have to stop feeling guilty about your situation and start taking massive action! You MUST get off your rear end and take your life back. You have the option of getting up, getting fit, feeling great and being healthy or laying down, being fat, continuing to put that poison crap food in your body and dying young. Which will you choose?
