This is a familiar scene. We enroll in a local gym. We start on a strict diet regimen and start a workout schedule. Soon we have given it all up for the paucity of time. For people who have to manage a busy professional life as well as manage a family, weight loss programs can be a distant dream – as there is simply no time to do any routine activity. So is there any hope for busy bees to lose weight?
Both dieting and physical exercise routines require time, inclination, commitment and tenacity. A busy person may have all the desire to lose weight but does not know how to fit in these programs with his lifestyle. The natural choice therefore is to change your lifestyle with some healthier choices, if you can not maintain a weight-loss diet or even go for regular workouts. Watch what you eat and how you live. Some minor alterations can always be accommodated.
The day starts with breakfast, which you should never skip. You might like to believe that eating a healthy breakfast is adding to your calories. You are wrong. Skipping this important meal will make you overtly hungry by lunchtime when you will surely overeat and take in all the calories which you were thinking of losing. Missing breakfast could also result in your munching something throughout the morning. While it seems to reduce calorie intake if you skip this important meal, it may actually result in consumption of excessive calories during the day.
In your diet, avoid as much processed foods as you can. In stead have more fiber and proteins. Always include some fruits, vegetables, fresh meat, poultry and fish in your regular diet. The other culprit which you must avoid is soda. Drink water in stead. It is not only the purest thing you could have, it also gives you a full feeling. If fast food is your passion, have pasta which is simple and quick to cook. In stead of big meals, have several small meals during the day. If you find yourself craving for food, try chewing gum. At times it wards of unwanted craving.
Now for including some physical exercise in your busy daily schedule, try push ups or crunches at home since you do not have adequate time to go to the gym. Walking or jogging is excellent exercise which you could do early in the morning or sometime in the evening. You could also park your car a few blocks away and walk up to your place of work. When you get back home, include your excising in the family commitments. For instance, take your dog for a walk or take the kids out for some play in the park, or simply run around with them in the sun.
There are many intelligent ways you could include a healthy lifestyle and an exercise program in your otherwise busy life. All it needs is the will to go ahead and do something about your weight. With time you will find that this healthy lifestyle has become a way of life.
